ABOUT FLIGHT COMMANDER

Flight Commander is a single-player landing simulator: you're airborne over a long runway and have to bring your plane down safely by managing throttle and pitch together. Coming in too fast, too slow, at too steep an angle, or missing the runway entirely all end the flight differently, and the readouts (altitude, speed, vertical speed, throttle, pitch) update in real time so you can see exactly how your inputs are affecting the approach.

HOW TO PLAY

  1. Press Start Flight to take off with the plane already airborne.
  2. Use throttle to control your speed and pitch to control your climb or descent.
  3. Watch the runway distance bar at the bottom of the HUD to time your approach.
  4. Line up your speed, vertical speed, and pitch angle before touchdown.
  5. Land within the runway markers with acceptable speed and pitch for a successful landing.

CONTROLS

Desktop: W/S adjust pitch, A/D adjust throttle. Mobile: use the on-screen SPD+/SPD- and UP/DN buttons. A stall warning appears if your airspeed drops too low to maintain lift.

FAQ

What causes a crash?

Missing the runway entirely, touching down too hard (high sink rate), landing too fast, or landing at too steep or too shallow a pitch angle all end the flight as a failure with a specific cause shown on screen.

Is there a time limit?

No — the runway is long and there's no clock, so you can manage your descent at your own pace before committing to landing.
